This automated palletising system combined a 4 axis Gudel portal gantry robot with a variety of carton and pallet feeding conveyor systems. The system included 22 palletising stations, providing simultaneous stacking of 22 different carton types and varying palletising patterns.
Integrated system control was achieved by an Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC with RSView SCADA system. The supervisory control system interfaced to a Kuka robot controller providing servo axis motion control.
Control system features included wireless DeviceNet communications links, wireless laser absolute positioning systems, Danfoss closed loop drive systems, barcode scanners and printers all connected on a field bus network.
CCS were responsible for all control system software, including the PLC system, SCADA and motion controllers on the system. Remote support is provided for the client via a secure VPN connection.
