Example application:

The Problem: In 2006, Dunlop Nigeria Plc were experiencing significant production losses due to obsolete Mitsubishi PLC and Servo drive systems on their tyre building equipment. This equipment would break down frequently, the cost of repairs and service exchange equipment were high and timescales were prohibitive.

Original Control Panel, with cooling fan in an attempt to reduce overheating of ageing PLC system and drives. Failures were frequent.

The Solution: CCS Technology replaced the problematic PLC system with one of Dunlop's preferred suppliers Allen Bradley, using an SLC500 platform, fitted with Bosch Indramat AC servo systems connected via a DeviceNet interface and Panelview operator interface.
 
The refurbishment took two weeks from start to finish which included electrical installation, servo drive system and software commissioning. The addition of a Panelview operator interface improved diagnostics, added recipe storage of setup parameters and provided additional manual operation functions.


After refurbishment with new Allen Bradley PLC and Servo drive systems.


The result: Production losses due to electrical equipment failures have been eradicated, machine change over times have been reduced and significant improvements in production throughput realised.
 
The Customer: Mr Tony Chemytsh, Engineering Manager at Dunlop Africa Marketing (UK) Limited stated "The refurbishment projects that CCS have carried out in our Nigerian plant has made significant improvements to reliability and reduced production losses.
