Confectionery Handling & Stacking System

A major confectionary manufacturer was having difficulty with an existing handling and stacking machine due to jerky and uncontrollable movements of the machine functions. The original mechanical cams, gearboxes and drive chains were removed and replaced with a multi axis servo system which enabled programmable velocity profiles. The new system introduced S curve velocity profiles and controllable acceleration and de-acceleration, which improved the production throughput of the facility and dramatically reduced the amount scrap product due to spillages. The control system was based around an Allen Bradely SLC 5/04 programmable controller with DeviceNet communications to multiple Allen Bradley Ultra AC servo systems.
