PC-based control systems

PC-based control systems are increasingly used in applications where large volumes of production, test or setup data need to be stored, processed or analysed, or where close integration with corporate IT and network infrastructure is required. By leveraging the processing power, storage capacity and connectivity of industrial PCs, these systems provide a flexible and scalable platform for advanced machine control, data handling and system integration.

Soft PLC platforms operating within the PC environment offer a powerful alternative to traditional hardware-based PLCs. We deploy proven technologies such as Beckhoff TwinCAT and Siemens CPU 1507S soft PLC controllers to deliver deterministic, real-time control performance while retaining the advantages of a PC-based architecture. These systems typically communicate over high-speed Ethernet networks to distributed I/O modules, motion controllers and drive systems, providing a modular and highly adaptable control solution.

In addition, we develop PC-based control systems using National Instruments LabVIEW for applications requiring advanced data acquisition, high-speed analogue signal processing or complex test and measurement functionality. This approach is particularly well suited to automated test equipment, research and development systems, and production environments where integration with databases, MES or enterprise systems such as SAP is required. By combining real-time control, data management and network connectivity within a single platform, PC-based control systems offer a powerful solution for demanding industrial applications.

There is no single control platform that suits every application. PLC, CNC and PC-based control systems each offer distinct advantages depending on the machine, process and operational requirements. At CCS Technology, we design and deliver solutions across all three platforms, allowing us to select the most appropriate architecture for each project—whether that involves high-performance motion control, complex automation logic or advanced data integration.
